Total snowfall amounts for the city and North Shore neighbours to the east could reach 5cm this week
For almost a week, an upper-air weather system was responsible for clouds and showers over the Sault region, but now it will bring even worse weather. This system will slide just far enough east to unleash a wave of frigid air, snow and strong winds.
For those folks north and especially northeast of the city at higher elevations, we could see a significant snowfall event in the days ahead. In those areas, 10-20cm of snow could fall, and there's a good chance it will remain on the ground this weekend. The clouds and slight cooling trend start Monday as daytime highs only reach 7°C. Strong north winds over 60km/h arriving in the afternoon bring cold air and light snow in the evening and overnight.
