Name: Paige Allaby Hometown: Saint John, N.B. Position: Forward - ContributedIt’s how Paige Allaby described her first season in the Atlantic University Sport with the Cape Breton Capers women’s soccer program last season.

“I used the season to gain experience in the league and I put that in my back pocket. It really helped motivate me to put in extra time in the offseason both in the gym and on the field.” Paige Allaby of the Cape Breton Capers women’s soccer team focuses on the ball during Atlantic University Sport action at Ness Timmons Field in Sydney earlier this season. The Rothesay, N.B., product is in her second year with the team and is considered the most improved player on the club. CONTRIBUTED/VAUGHAN MERCHANT, CBU ATHLETICS - Vaughan Merchant

Longtime Capers head coach Stephen Timmons acknowledged Allaby’s strong second season with the club, noting she’s been “a pleasant surprise.” “If you look at her numbers and look at the effect she’s having on the team, she’s not playing 90 minutes every game, which is even more important to what she’s contributing to,” said Timmons.

“I knew coming into such a high-level program that things were going to be intense right from the start and I experienced that right away last year,” said Allaby. “It was a different experience, but the program has a winning culture and I want to be part of that and hopefully it will be this year.”Back on the pitch
