DOMINION, N.S. — Buoyed by the success of the ongoing HAWKS Field of Dreams project, a group of Dominion residents is looking to make their community ...
The Dominion-based Light Up Crew recently received a generous donation from the Dominion Credit Union. The credit union organized a barbeque and bake sale that raised about $1,500 for the project that will see neon lights strung up on the old-fashioned light standards on Commercial Street. Saccary said that project’s momentum is now stirring community pride. And he said that’s carried over to a new organization and a new venture to light up Dominion’s main business street. He said the Light Up Crew, a group comprised of local residents and business people, has already raised about $17,000 of the initiative’s $25,000 price tag.
The bulk of the funds raised thus far came from a $14,500 beautification grant from the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. District 10 Coun. Darren Bruckschwaiger, a longtime Dominion resident, said he is totally supportive of any ventures that improve the community.
