Here are today\u0027s Ottawa Sun letters to the editor.
It boggles the mind that there are still those who claim there is no “greed-flation” with regard to the profits being raked in by grocery chains. One major chain posted a rise in its first-quarter profits of 40 per cent over the same time a year ago. Sure sounds like greed to me. Oh, sure, we get the same old excuses as to why prices have increased and, while some are legitimate, there are others that aren’t.
I’m sure we all remember not long ago the scandal involving bread price fixing. Businesses have the right to make money, but they shouldn’t have the right to gouge consumers when many people are having a hard time putting food on the table. It’s downright disgusting.Kudos to columnist Brian Lilley for calling out Trudeau and Mayor Watson over their politicizing the inquiry trying to determine if Trudeau’s invoking the Emergencies Act to put down the “Freedom Convoy” was justified.
Because of the extraordinary powers it gives police, the EMA can only be invoked when national security is under dire threat. Evidence of that is sorely missing so far from this inquiry, with many witnesses playing political and blame games.I guess city council and Diane Deans must think we are a bunch of idiots if they want us to honestly believe that they were caught off guard and had no idea how big or how long the convoy was going to be before they got to Ottawa.
These city councillors and mayor are just trying to blame everyone else for their failure to see what was being reported everywhere daily, but they did nothing but make these truckers out to be terrorists when the entire protest proved to be more a party and peaceful demonstration. Shame on all these councillors and Watson for blaming Ford when this was all Trudeau’s doing and responsibility, but then again Watson is a diehard Liberal and in his book, it’s always a Conservative’s fault for a Liberal’s mistake.
