“We’re in the semifinal, that’s all that matters,” Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic said on Monday when asked of his defensive approach.
“To be among the four best teams in the world is an extraordinary success for Croatia,” Dalic said. “It is a great thing to be able to do that in two World Cups in a row. But we want more and we’re playing a great team in Argentina led by Lionel Messi. “It’s difficult to compare them and England from four years ago. I think this is going to be similar for us, though, because England also had a very good squad four years ago, but it’s all going to be on us. If we play in the right way, the way we did against Brazil, anything in possible, there is no doubt about that.”Article content
After France defeated England to book a spot in the semifinal, a journalist asked head coach Didier Deschamps what it mean to his team to play for a second-consecutive World Cup championship, considering the previous team do to it was Brazil in 1958 and 1962. Morocco, backstopped by Montreal-born goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, has already defeated Belgium, Spain and Portugal at the tournament, as well as Canada, whose goal against them was an own goal, to boot.
