Dunphy said the original application for the rezoning was made by Claude O’Hara in October 2022. The applicant had changed to Sheldon Chisholm and is now being dealt with by Upland Planning and Design Studio.About the application He said the overall vision would be developed over the coming two months. The goal is to create a complete community with a mix of housing options. Dec said the intention is to work with the existing landscape and protect natural features.
“When I had presented my concerns related to the consequences of this application in the past, it was getting pretty stressful to be quite honest." He said it remains unclear how the parcel of land within the former town boundary came to be zoned for residential use. Sanford also questioned the timing of the agrologist’s report. He said it seems the agrologist, who was from P.E.I., completed the study before being approved by the Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists to work in this province.
“I’m very happy that council did the right thing and took a pause to verify some information, because once you build houses on farmland, there’s no going back and fixing that."
