But the airline insisted the 10-day period ended the next day, and the couple said they were both denied boarding and were rebooked for Feb. 16. But Air Canada said it shouldn’t have to compensate the couple for those extra expenses because “they failed to provide sufficient proof of loss,” and Joel Mackoff could have flown home on Feb. 15 and limited their damages.

The Mackoffs argued that denial of boarding included all denials, “not just those based on overbooking,” Goodwin wrote.Article content
