House members are demanding answers from Bureau of Corrections Director-General Nicanor Faeldon regarding his supposed signature that appeared in convicted rapist-murdered Antonio Sanchez’s release order.“I think Faeldon should be made to explain why he signed Sanchez’s release [order],” reckoned Deputy Speaker and Surigao del Sur 2nd district Rep. Johnny Pimentel.
Reports over the weekend showed that BuCor’s Faeldon signed a release order for Sanchez, a former Calauan, Laguna town mayor. The controversial inmate’s own children have earlier confirmed the existence of a release order, saying it was dated August 20.Sanchez was sentenced to seven life terms in 1995 for his conviction in the rape-slay of Eileen Sarmienta as well as the killing of her companion, Allan Gomez.
“Allegedly some released prisoners do not qualify [for the GCTA rule] but were still released. I believe money changed hands and we should investigate and file the appropriate charges,” Barbers said.
