“Our proposal to increase the number of electoral districts reflects our growing province,” said commission chair Nitya Iyer, adding the commission did not recommend reducing riding numbers in areas of decreased population.It was recommended that some riding names be changed to better reflect their locations and to not have the same names as federal ridings.
By law, the commission must assess ridings after every second general provincial election.
