In addition to providing a great physical workout, it encourages spatial awareness, improves memory and helps with balance.
Whether it’s traditional line dancing or the more modern approach to the popular dance, those who participate say they enjoy everything about it.Jeannette Morawiecki, the instructor for the program in Boularderie, said she began as a student in the class and then advanced her way to being an instructor.
“I started to research some steps at home and would bring them back to class. The participants seemed to like my approach to teaching. I found it to be very rewarding. Now, five years later, I still enjoy teaching the class and continue to work on new steps.”“I love music so picking the right music and the right dance to go with it is important,” she said. “If I don’t like the music, I can’t get into the dance and I think the others in the class feel the same way.

In addition to doing her homework, Morawiecki continues to work on new steps by attending workshops in locations all over Atlantic Canada.
