The Liberal and NDP parties in Nova Scotia have called on the province to expand high-dose coverage to all seniors.
The Liberal release said more than 40 per cent of the hospitalizations for influenza in Nova Scotia have occurred in the past week, “and the number will likely continue to grow.”said there were 58 people hospitalized , four ICU admissions and five deaths with Influenza A between Nov. 20 and Nov. 26.are caused by the H3N2 strain of Influenza A.National Advisory Committee on Immunization on the comparative advantages of high-dose flu vaccine for people 65 and over compared to the standard dose.

As for the public health side of specialized flu drugs, she said the same problem applies to other vaccines such as the ones for shingles and meningitis B that aren't publicly covered. The first obstacle is people simply being aware these vaccines exist and are safe and effective, then there’s the ability to pay for them.
