Shane Buchanan, QEH laboratory manager, said the present hematology system is 10 years old, and the new system will replace an older model that is past its life expectancy.
“This system is the work-horse of the department and seventy percent of all diagnoses that come from a physician comes from a lab test done in this laboratory,” said Buchanan. “The new system will be fully automated and bring new digital technology to our microscopic work, providing improvements in both the quality and efficiency.”
CBC’s Matt Rainnie was the master of ceremonies for the evening, and the guest auctioneer was Kevin Gallant. Guests enjoyed live entertainment from the Love Junkies, who helped complete the evening on a festive note.
