“It pretty much did all of that growth overnight,” said Jane Park, a fire investigation specialist for the battlefields unit and one of the unified commanders on site. “It was still within the park and kind of hung up in some other rocky bits in the mountains last night. We were looking at it yesterday, late in the day, and it hadn’t moved. And overnight, it must have had a very strong wind on it and went the whole 500 hectares overnight.
Anastasia Drummond, a spokesperson for Alberta Wildfire, said satellite imagery showed the fire had spread beyond park boundaries overnight and they deployed crews to battle it as soon as they had light.Article content 🧵As a result of low humidity and high overnight winds, the Dormer Valley prescribed fire has experienced growth on the eastern national park boundary, crossing onto provincial lands.
