Brookfield Jr. B Elks battling the Pictou County Scotians in pre-season action at the Pictou County Wellness Centre. - Ray BurnsTRENTON – The Pictou County Scotians exploded for 10 goals as they dumped the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates 10-3 in Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League action in Trenton on Sunday, Nov. 13.

The Scotians’ offence was led by Cale MacLaughlin, Cal Maxner, and Matt Carson who each collected four points. MacLaughlin scored two goals and set up two others while Maxner and Carson scored one apiece and both added three helpers. Ryan Green scored twice and earned an assist. Alex Newell, Joseph Mason, Ryan Frizzle and Thomas Kennaley each fired one goal apiece. Kennaley also picked up an assist to end the game with a pair of points as did Zach Houston who had two helpers.

Brandon Connors made 31 saves for the win. The Scotians pounded the Port Hawkesbury net with 51 shots. With the win, Pictou County improves to 6-3-0-0 and sit second in the Sid Rowe Division, and fourth overall in the league, with 12 points. The Scotians host the Cumberland Blues on Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Trenton rink at 6 p.m.
