Brenda Tirrell, a firefighter who bought a Constance Bay home in 2021, has sump pumps and sandbags ready to defend her place, but on Friday she was helping an elderly man on Bayview Drive build a sandbag wall in an attempt to hold back some of the groundwater that has surrounded his low-lying home. Water seeps in through the area’s sandy soil.
