After leaving the embassy, Becerra worked for four years at the Andaz Ottawa ByWard Market, becoming its chef de cuisine, that is, until the pandemic hit and he and other hotel workers were laid off. In April 2021, Becerra opened his takeout-only food Peruvian food business Raphaël Express tucked away in the back of the City Centre complex.
In May this year, the commercial kitchen that Raphaël Express and other tenants called home closed.
