Ottawa mayoral candidates Catherine McKenney and Mark Sutcliffe.As McKenney and Sutcliffe stayed close to their familiar talking points — McKenney’s being their “fully costed platform” to make Ottawa a “world-class city,” and Sutcliffe’s his “fiscal responsibility” and plans for “building a better city” — there were some occasional sparks between the two.
Kadri also weighed in on the subject, suggesting that Sutcliffe’s plan had “inconsistencies” in it that he said would see Sutcliffe’s proposed tax increases of 2 and 2.5 per cent balloon to five per cent. While Kadri might not leapfrog the three high-profile candidates who also took part in Monday’s debate in the polls or on election day next week, he more than held his own with his knowledge of the issues to prove he deserved his spot on the stage.
