Blake Deacon, a 20-year-old forward from Port Williams, is expected to play his first game of the season this week. He broke his wrist during the pre-season.

From the urgent need to get Canadian potash and grain to global markets to bolster food security, to domestic demands for everything from bananas to consumer electronics to holiday gifts—countless men and women are working hard amid a variety of challenges. What Canadians don’t see is the incredible diligence and resilience the private sector employers and operators at Canada’s ports continue to demonstrate, keeping our economy and supply chains functioning through the pandemic and severe human- and climate-caused disruptions. From coast to coast, and through the St. Lawrence, the maritime private sector delivers for Canadians every day. The recent National Supply Chain Task Force’s final report highlighted the urgency with which collaborative action must be taken if we are to successfully cope with the challenges facing us as a nation. Repairing our supply chain demands a more streamlined, efficient, and pro-growth approach to governance and regulation of Canada’s ports.
