Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta Verified on his social media accounts Sunday. Here's how social media users are reacting to the news.
For $11.99 per month on the web or $14.99 per month on Apple and Android operating systems, Meta will use a government identification to verify a user’s account and give the account a blue badge.
Not everyone has taken a liking to the new announcement. Zuckerberg posted a statement on his Facebook explaining the new developments, and top comments criticize the intentions behind subscriptions. Zuckerberg responded back, saying subscription fees will cover the significant amount of money it takes to provide direct access to customer support for billions of people.
Late last year, controversy erupted when Twitter began charging users $8 per month for Twitter Blue, which verifies their accounts with a blue check.
