Toronto police said the man was gunned down in the stairwell of an apartment building on Wednesday evening after an interaction with two suspects.
A man was shot in the legs in a highrise apartment building in east Toronto on Wednesday evening.
At a media conference after the incident, Toronto police duty insp. Michael Hayles told reporters they were called to a shooting at 263 Pharmacy Ave., near Warden Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East, at about 5 p.m. Hayles said officers found a 22-year-old man with injuries in the building stairwell.Hayles said residents of the building assisted the person who was shot until paramedics arrived. Police said the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police said they do not believe there is a threat to public safety, and described the suspects as two men. Police said they do not have further suspect information at this time.
