Toronto firefighters rescued a man from Lake Ontario early Tuesday morning a day after three people were rescued near the Toronto Islands.
Toronto firefighters rescued a man from Lake Ontario early Tuesday morning aToronto police said on Twitter that firefighters were called to the Harbourfront, near Queens Quay West and Martin Goodman Trail, just after 4 a.m., after a man had fallen into the lake.
Police said a person nearby heard the man cry for help and threw him a life preserver. Firefighters helped him out of the water, and Toronto paramedics said they took the man to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. This is the second time emergency services have rescued people from the lake this week. On Monday, the Toronto police marine unit rescued three people — two who fell through ice after trying to skate, and the one who fell in trying to help — from the water near the Toronto Islands.is open water, with new lake ice across some parts of the shore after last week’s deep freeze.
