‘It’s out-of-the-box, innovative thinking, which is something we’ve been calling on the government for’: Registered Nurses’ Union president

“They’re all educated in English, so the English proficiency issue shouldn’t be a problem, and when you look at other countries, sometimes that is a problem,” he said. “We recognize that there are quality nursing schools there. Again, that is a problem within some other jurisdictions.”In a telephone interview, Registered Nurses’ Union president Yvette Coffey said she is encouraged by the announcement.
“India has a shortage of nurses just like everywhere else on the globe … and that’s expected to grow and grow and grow in the next couple years. We need to be cognizant of that in our recruitment efforts outside the province.”The province is looking to become more efficient by getting rid of red tape that “doesn’t need to exist,” Furey said.
