While the origins of some of the songs on this record date back a few years, they were given life during the pandemic, Gunning says. The Same Storm was recorded and mixed at Gunning’s own Wee House of Music studio in Lyons Brook, just outside of Pictou, with some additional recordings in three other studios. Robinson served as assistant producer.
My Father’s Tools sees Gunning reflect on the many ways his father helped to shape the man he has become.Since the release of his first record some two decades ago singer-songwriter Dave Gunning has earned a host of awards that include multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards, a Juno nomination and ten East Coast Music Awards.
