Country icon Tanya Tucker to headline Friday night main stage at the Calgary Folk Music Festival yyc yycmusic
The veteran performer, who was just 13 when she appeared on the scene in the early 1970s, is currently enjoying a career revival thanks to the her 2019 comeback album While I’m Livin’, co-produced by Belinda Carlile. It was followed by a 2022 documentary The Return of Tanya Tucker: Featuring Brandi Carlile, which arrived 50 years after Tucker released her Billy Sherrill-produced debut album, Delta Dawn.
Other acts announced include American hip-hop veterans Digable Planets, who will play the main stage on July 27. American roots-blues player Fantastic Negrito will perform Saturday on the mainstage while Toronto’s The Weather Station – led by Tamara Lindeman – will perform the same night on the National Stage.
On Sunday, both Toronto indie-folk artist Bahamas and Oji-Cree singer-songwriter Aysanabee are scheduled for the main stage.Share this article in your social network
