Matthew Stokes of Baddeck received the Nova Scotia offshore sailor of the year for his results in the Newport to Bermuda Ocean Race earlier this year. Stokes and his boat Blue Jay III were the first Canadian boat to cross the finish line in the prestigious Newport to Bermuda race in June. Stokes will also be nominated for the Sail Canada National Offshore Sailor of the Year award.
