Hockey stick and puck. - ContributedCOXHEATH, N.S. - The Chebucto Atlantics and TASA Ducks were successful in claiming championship victories in the Allan Sullivan Memorial Hockey Tournament in Coxheath and Membertou over the weekend.
In the under-11 'AA' division, the Atlantics downed the Glace Bay Miners 3-1 in the championship game at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath on Sunday. The Atlantics earned their spot in the championship game with a 5-2 win over the Pictou County Crushers earlier in the day. Meanwhile, the Miners downed the Antigonish Bulldogs 5-2 in their semifinal game.The hosted Cape Breton County Islanders posted a 1-1-1 record in the tournament. They tied Pictou County 1-1, beat the Sackville Flyers 6-2, and lost 7-3 to Antigonish.
In the under-11 'A' tournament, TASA knocked off Western Valley 4-1 in the championship game at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre. TASA secured its spot in the final with a 2-1 win over the Bedford Blues, while Western edged the Sydney Steelers 3-2.The host Cape Breton County posted a 1-2 record in the round robin.
