This year, MacLean, 15, will get a second chance at winning an Atlantic title when the Lynx host the Atlantic Under-18 ‘AAA’ Female Hockey Championship this week at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.

“When we found out in October that we were hosting the Atlantic tournament, we’ve all been excited for this moment the whole season,” said MacLean, who began playing hockey when she was four years old.MacLean, who played the majority of her minor hockey career in the Quad County female association, led the Lynx rookie players with 10 goals and 21 points in 24 games.

“My teammates were a big part of my success this season, it’s always a team effort and it’s not just about me, so without them, I wouldn’t have been able to do what I did this season.”4 p.m. – Eastern vs. Western Prior to Thursday’s game, the Lynx hadn’t played a game in six weeks after the team was eliminated from the Maritime Major Female Hockey League Nova Scotia playoffs by the Northern Subway Selects, who went on to win the provincials and will play in the Atlantic tournament.

The team will finish the round robin on Saturday at 12 p.m. against New Brunswick representative the Western Flames.
