Are they bad teams? No, not really, but they’re teams that you’d think the Flames could beat — at least on paper. The Montreal Canadiens, Washington Capitals, Arizona Coyotes and Minnesota Wild are not exactly considered Stanley Cup contenders in most people’s books. “We knew coming off this road trip that we were going to be home for a bit and it’s a huge opportunity for our team to gain ground and get back to where we know we need to be,” said Flames defenceman Noah Hanifin. “We’ve got a lot of games in a short period of time and we’ve got to prepare and be ready to go.”
That’s doable, of course. We’re still only one-quarter of the way through the season. There’s lots of hockey left to be played. There are inevitable highs and lows lying ahead.Article content
