Truro, Millbrook hosting separate fireworks; levee in Bible Hill

The new year tradition is making a return since COVID began. - ContributedTRURO, N.S. — The new year is being welcomed with several activities lined up in the Truro area.There is a free children’s event at the Cougar Dome, but tickets for both time slots have already all been claimed. It features bouncy houses, airbrush tattoos and balloon animals.
At midnight, Millbrook First Nation is welcoming the new year with fireworks at the powwow grounds. Attendees should park at Millbrook Ballfield #2.at the H. Douglas Boyce Village Hall, from 1 to 2 p.m. A light lunch and refreshments are being offered during the opportunity to meet village commissioners and residents. Last year's planned levee was cancelled due to COVID.
The Town of Truro has opted not to do the traditional new year’s levee, said Mayor Bill Mills, due to the heightened flu season. Overall, the upcoming new year celebrations mark the most there have been locally since the beginning of the COVID pandemic.
