Here are today\u0027s Ottawa Sun letters to the editor.
Wouldn’t it be great and judicial if the head of the Emergencies Act inquiry, Justice Paul Rouleau, is impartial? Hardly likely as he once worked for the Liberal Party of Canada. And probably got his instructions directly from the prime minister as to how he wants it to turn out.Re: It’s a trap! Riverside Park’s coyote can expect to get caught, Oct. 13
A big push is on to solve the coyote problem! How about a big push to solve the guns and gangs problems? Maybe crime in general. Maybe help the homeless. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.Re: Hungry for answers?; Feds to probe spike in food prices and it’s about time, column, Oct. 13
So, the feds have decided to have a standing committee investigate food prices and the alleged abuse by large grocery chains. This should be interesting, especially since the article said, “The committee will examine the problem in the coming weeks.” That statement leaves the “coming weeks” open to interpretation.
I am sure a lot will be blamed on COVID-19, but what I have seen even before COVID that continues today is the process of reducing the quantity of a product without a comparable reduction in the price. Cheese products from two different manufacturers were at one time 500 grams, but over time the quantity went from 500 to 450, and now 400, but the price went in the opposite direction.
I am sure there are many other items that are similar to these examples. I am sure there will be enough blame to spread around, especially with the manufacturers and retailers, but the bottom line will be and has always been clarified by the statement that money is an evil master but an excellent servant.
