A 62-year-old woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday afternoon when she was hit by a vehicle on Quadra Street near Tattersall.Saanich police said the southbound driver failed to stop at a red light and was given a $368 ticket for driving without due care and attention.On Tuesday morning, a child was hit in a marked crosswalk at Shelbourne Street and San Juan Avenue while on the way to school and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident prompted Saanich residents to rally at the site Wednesday morning, calling for improvements to make roads safer for pedestrians. The rally also attracted Saanich mayor-elect Dean Murdock, who promised to move quickly on improving road safety in the municipality.
