Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for parts of Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands for Wednesday and Thursday.
Vancouver Island all have wind warnings. Only Inland Vancouver Island has not been issued a wind warning.
The North Island’s wind warning comes into effect Wednesday night, with easterly winds of 70-90 km/h. Thursday afternoon winds will gust to 110 km/h then the strong winds will abate overnight.The remaining wind warnings come into effect Thursday afternoon. For Greater Victoria, East Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands, winds are expected to be 70 km/h gusting to 90 through the Strait of Georgia starting Thursday afternoon into the night.Sign up for our newsletter to get breaking news and daily digests sent to your email.The East Island is under warning from Courtenay to Campbell River, Duncan to Nanaimo, and Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay.
West Vancouver Island is expected to see winds of up to 100 km/h then lower to 50 to 60 km/h late in the night.
