This year’s fall economic statement came with few new announcements but touts a handful of measures to address housing affordability, labour shortages and decarbonization. “I am confident we have struck the right approach, in general and in this fall economic statement,” Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland told media on Thursday. “What we’re announcing today, what we’ve been doing throughout, is to strike a balance between necessary compassion and support for Canadians and fiscal responsibility.”
