Kudos to the Ottawa Senators for correcting past mistakes and making up for lost time.
GIROUX’S MEMORIES
“It’s probably not the most gentleman thing he ever did, but it’s just, he’s a competitor. I thought it was pretty funny at the time.”Outside of the “Alfie, Alfie” chants, the next best crowd interaction involved the “ZOOOOOOOB” chorus every time Russian defenceman Artem Zub touches the puck. The fans were fully into the spirit when Zub scored the third-period insurance goal, which probably had something to do with the fact the arena ran out of beer.
Smith praised Brown for the impact he had on young players, including Drake Batherson and Tim Stutzle. “Never too high, never too low,” Smith said of Brown, who was traded to the Capitals last summer for a 2024 second-round draft pick. “He had a lot to do with this team, developing the Timmies and the Drakes and these guys, the way he played and the way he treated them off the ice.”Article content
