The Klub 2SLGBTQ+ Community Centre seeks to 'move forward and regain the trust of our community' amid controversy, temporary closure
The board of directors for The Klub 2SLGBTQ+ Community Centre says all staff, board members and volunteers have passed vulnerable sector checks and will require them going forward after the community space temporarily closed its doors in light of a series of controversial TikTok videos made by its director.
In a statement to SooToday Thursday, the board reiterated the not-for-profit organization's commitment to completing training on racism, oppression, conflict resolution and creating “safer spaces.” “We will continue to work with social service agencies and consultants to ensure our policies enable best practices and that the programs we offer, support the vulnerable communities that we impact. Specifically, our social media policies have undergone review and policies regarding any breach of them have been enforced as well,” read the statement. “As a new grassroots non-profit, we are building policies and programs in which everyone involved can feel respected and valued.
The board of directors is encouraging the public to submit all feedback via email to [email protected].
