Thousands braved the cloudy skies on Saturday to participate in the annual Vaisakhi parade in Vancouver.Premier David Eby, opposition leader Kevin Falcon and numerous provincial, federal and civic politicians were among the crowd.“I think the community and Vancouverites have really missed this, it’s an amazing celebration,” he said.
“Thousands of people out enjoying food, hospitality and camaraderie. It reflects the real Sikh values of giving.”Article content“There’s so many different reasons why this was amazing,” said Sim. “First of all, people getting out in the community in three years to celebrate diversity, culture and in particular Vaisakhi. The kindness, the service and selflessness that the Sikh community provides, not only in Vancouver but to people in the region, the province, the country and around the world, is phenomenal.”“I’m going to have some gulab jaman, some naan, some roti, pakoras,” said Sim.
“Hopefully a little bit of butter chicken, some lamb vindaloo if I can find it. Even some saag.
