The middle fight of the UFC 288 main card comes from the strawweight division with No. 4 contender Jessica Andrade going up against No. 6 Yan Xiaonan.Andrade has had a spotty record over the last few years, managing just four wins in her last eight fights. She’s coming off a second-round submission loss against Erin Blanchfield in February, which snapped a three-fight win streak.
Andrade is one of the more powerful pound-for-pound fighters in the UFC women’s divisions. She has quick hands and she’s not afraid to get into a dogfight. Andrade is also comfortable on the ground as an explosive wrestler. Yan is 9-2 since her UFC debut in 2017. She won her first six fights in the Octagon, all by unanimous decision, before dropping back-to-back fights. She bounced back from those setbacks with a slim majority decision victory over Mackenzie Dern last October. Yan is light on her feet and likes to dart in and out of range to land precise, technically-sound strikes. She’s not as powerful as her opponent, but she’s much quicker and has the potential to land a flurry of strikes seemingly out of nowhere.
