Alberta Justice Minister Tyler Shandro says he felt sadness and disappointment when he discovered someone he considered to be a friend had posted a social media post that targeted him and his wife.
The Law Society of Alberta is in the final day of a hearing over allegations Shadro violated the profession's code of conduct while he was the province's health minister early in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shandro testified this morning that a post on social media by a Calgary doctor, who he knew well, spurred him to visit the man and tell him the post was resulting in death threats against Shadro's wife. The post showed a picture of the minister and mentioned Andrea Shandro's medical insurance company by name.
The doctor described Shandro as being upset and crying while with his wife during the short encounter. But Shandro says he was alone for most of the conversation and the doctor was the one who decided to remove the post.
