In an interview from Philadelphia where he is the chair of the fine arts department at the University of Pennsylvania’s Stuart Weitzman School of Design, Lum said Main Street was just one of the locations he had initially contemplated as a site for the cross. But Lum, drawn to the nondescript semi-industrial scrap of pavement next to a busy road, thought it could be the perfect site.
