The Port Moody rec centre’s polling station was very busy, according to one poll worker who described a steady stream of voters in the last hour of voting in the Tri Cities third largest community.Article content“The community is definitely growing and I believe we need strong people to growth,” said first-time voter Anastasia Sergiannidis. “Definitely keep our roots, but we do need housing.”
Port Moody, however, had the most contentious race, to replace Vagramov. Two candidates, both councillors from the previous council, Meghan Lahti and Steve Milani, clashed over how to place the municipality within the backdrop of Metro Vancouver’s housing crisis. It was a bitter campaign, with the two sides trading attack posts on social media and even drew Vagramov into the fray this week when he repurposed one of Lahti’s own campaign videos, voicing it over with criticism of her voting record over development.
