Two Southern Ontario men arrested and charged for various drug and weapons offences
Not following the post speed limit proved problematic for two Southern Ontario men who Manitoulin OPP say were transporting illegal drugs.
On Nov. 12 at approximately 10:40 p.m., Manitoulin OPP officers report they were conducting regular patrol duties on Highway 17 in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township when a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was pulled over for speeding and upon speaking to the driver, OPP alleges police saw what appeared to be illicit drugs inside the vehicle. The driver and passenger were subsequently arrested.
Police report seizing suspected Fentanyl, cocaine and cannabis from the vehicle, as well as cellular phones, digital scales, an edged weapon, and more than $6,000 in Canadian currency.A 21-year-old man is charged with:The accused are both scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Dec. 5 to answer to the charges.
