Flames coach Darryl Sutter, notoriously hard to please, praised Zohorna’s work after Saturday’s overtime loss in Toronto. In Monday’s matchup with the Montreal Canadiens, the Czech skyscraper was once again skating as Calgary’s fourth-line centre, with Blake Coleman and Trevor Lewis on his flanks.Article content
“He’s been strong on the puck, protected the puck and moved his feet,” Sutter said prior to the battle at Bell Centre. “When we watched on film, prior to getting him on waivers from Pittsburgh, those were three things that he was good at — and then in pre-season, when we played him in those exhibition games, he wasn’t good at. These past two games, he was good at it, so hopefully that can be a continuation.
Zohorna, who played parts of two seasons with the Penguins, totalling 25 appearances at the top rung, doesn’t deny that he struggled in that pair of auditions after being nabbed by the Flames earlier this fall.
