The 16-year-old adds the 400-metre individual medley mark to the 400 freestyle record she set Tuesday.
The 16-year-old stopped the clock in four minutes and 25.87 seconds in the 400-metre individual medley Saturday at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. The previous women’s record was 4:26.36, set by Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The Toronto swimming sensation set her first world record Tuesday, on the opening night of the Canadian swimming trials, in the 400 freestyle. In between, she lowered her Canadian and world junior records in two more events: the 200 butterfly and 200 individual medley. “Going into tonight, I knew it might have been a possibility, but I was really trying to focus on executing a good race, technique-wise, and give it all I had.”
