It was a wild night all around, with the Senators carrying the play for most of it.
On a night when Josh Norris made his long-awaited return to the Senators lineup, Ottawa’s power play was at its potent best, registering all four of their goals during regulation.
The Senators came at the Penguins in waves, forcing Pittsburgh into penalty after penalty while outshooting the visitors 29-14 through two periods. As the Senators continue to spin their skates over and over again in the quest to climb the wildcard standings, the two-game set against the Penguins is pivotal. Before the puck dropped, the Penguins owned the final spot, nine points up on the Senators. Another five teams — the New York Islanders, Florida Panthers, Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings — stood in between them.
