The U.S. Coast Guard says an underwater vessel has located a debris field near the Titanic in the search for a missing submersible.
A Remotely Operated Vehicle hunting for a submarine that went missing during an excursion to view the wreck of the Titanic has found a debris field within the search area, the U.S. Coast Guard said Thursday.
But experts say that window could be extended if the passengers took measures to conserve their remaining air — remaining calm and still, trying to control their breathing. Ships, airplanes and Remotely Operated Vehicles are being used to search the waters of the Atlantic 700 kilometres south-southeast of Newfoundland above and below the surface.
On Wednesday, a Canadian surveillance aircraft detected a “banging” noise coming from the area of the ocean where the Titan was thought to have disappeared. An ROV was diverted to that are of the ocean to investigate.
