NSP said some areas of the province experienced winds over 100 km an hour, and it is working closely with the Nova Scotia Emergency Management Office. The Strait area and Truro NSCC campuses Wagmatcook Learning Centre were closed because of Power outages. The Pictou capus was also closed to on campus classes, but on;ine classes continued.

“Most of the leaves are now off the trees so that does help with power outage concerns but some trees, you know, are still weakened from when we had previous storms like Fiona, so we do need to be on the lookout for power outages with this storm,” Aalders said during an interview Wednesday afternoon.“There certainly is concern that there could be pooling on the roadways, so there’s concern for those commuting early on Thursday morning in Halifax,” Aalders said.
