Getting around downtown Toronto might be a little harder Sunday morning as the Toronto Waterfront Marathon returns to town.take part. The 2020 and 2021 marathons were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.Lake Shore Boulevard will be closed from Windermere to Don Roadway from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m.Bay Street from Queen Street West to Lake Shore Boulevard West will be closed from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Queen Street West from University Avenue to Yonge Street will shut from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., as will Richmond Street West from Sheppard Street to Yonge Street between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. While the in-person marathon is taking place over the weekend, runners can participate virtually between Oct. 1 and 31.A full list of road closures is available on the Toronto Waterfront Marathon’sThe TTC has said route diversions will be in place for a number of routes, including the 501, 504, 505, 506 and 511 streetcars.
