The Mariners had made the long drive home on April 22 after winning the league cup the night before in Edmundston with a 5-1 win over the Blizzard in Game 4 of their best-of-seven series.
The league cup was passed around to fans from players so they could all enjoy the championship win together. “The fans really make it awesome, the way they come out and support us. I love it, it’s unreal,” he said. This is the third time the team has won the league championship, and the third time it’s happened on the road. Previous league titles were captured in Woodstock in 2008 and Campbellton in 2019.
