TerraceBC Sgt. Terry Gillespie takes a cold dip in Kitimat to support Special Olympics
in Kitimat on Sunday, Feb. 19. Terrace Sgt. Terry Gillespie joined the Kitimat RCMP in responding to Prince Rupert RCMP’s Polar Dip challenge to support Special Olympics BC.
“We’ll get the plunge done and we’ll go from there, were Kitimat Sgt. Rob Gardner’s last words before before joining his fellow officers jumping into some exceptionally cold waters.“I want to just challenge the rest of our hub, so the Kitimat Stikine hub for the RCMP, I’m putting the challenge out to all you guys,” Gardner added. The event raised $1,855 for the B.C. Special Olympics.
The Polar Dip is an annual event that has become a popular fundraiser for charities across the country. Participants pledge to raise money for their chosen charity and then take a dip in a nearby body of water, usually during the winter months.
