Canada is in for “a warmer than normal” summer this year with Ontario expected to see a “warm-to-hot, soggy” season, according to preliminary predictions by the Farmers’ Almanac.
The long-range forecaster is predicting another year of sizzling temperatures across the country, describing the heat as “unrelenting” and “persisting” for many regions from mid June to early September. Canadians can expect temperatures up to 37 C, and with the humidity it could feel like 40 C in some areas.“It’ll be sort of unrelenting. Not a lot of breaks from the heat,” said Peter Geiger, editor of the Farmers’ Almanac, which has been forecasting the weather for around 200 years.
“It looks to me like you’ve got a lot of thunderstorms, a lot of moisture and a lot of heat,” he continued about Ontario. “That tends to make for muggy, muggy conditions.” Torrential rains are expected in the first week of August followed by “violent thunderstorms” in the third week.
